The white series of 2005 marks a time of renewal and the wrench of separation, "two houses." The bird motifs represent self and family they sit on separate branches, turned away from each other. Earlier tree of life pieces of 2003 include thoughts and observations around community. The birds represent people in community, the scissors represent creativity, giving and receiving as cups and an interest in traditions of faith an etrog. The ladder reperesents faith in self.

The work is constructed with double walled sheets of clay and painted with engobes using a paper resist technique that is picked up with a black, ceramic wash at the biscuit fired stage.
